Basalt Fiber Grid

Basalt fiber grid is a planar network material made from alkali-resistant and acid-resistant basalt fiber yarns. It is woven into a base mesh using imported warp knitting machines and features a warp-knitted oriented structure that maximizes the utilization of yarns in the fabric. This structure provides excellent tensile strength, high tear strength, and creep resistance. The material is further treated with a modified asphalt coating.

Features of Basalt Fiber Grid

01. Temperature Resistance: Basalt grid has an extremely wide temperature tolerance range from -260°C to 650°C, allowing it to be used in extreme conditions, including both high and low temperatures.
02. Low Thermal Expansion Coefficient: The thermal expansion coefficient of basalt grid matches that of asphalt concrete, meaning that internal stresses are minimized during temperature changes, reducing the risk of cracks and other structural damage.
03. High Tensile Strength and Toughness: Basalt grid exhibits high tensile strength and a good elongation at break (about 3.1%), making it less likely to break under stress and enhancing the durability of roads.
04. Chemical and UV Resistance: It has excellent resistance to chemical corrosion and ultraviolet light, making it suitable for outdoor use and capable of maintaining its mechanical and physical properties over time.
05. Environmental Characteristics: As an inorganic non-metallic fiber, basalt grid is a low-carbon, environmentally friendly material. It is non-flammable and non-toxic, meeting current environmental standards.

Basalt Fiber Grid vs Basalt Fiber Geogrid: the Difference

Basalt Fiber Grid and Basalt Fiber Geogrid generally refer to the same material, but the terms might be used differently depending on the context. Here’s an explanation:

  1. Basalt Fiber Grid:
This is a broad term that describes a grid-like structure made from basalt fibers. It emphasizes the material (basalt fiber) and the product’s grid form. This term is often used in general applications or when focusing on the material itself.

  2. Basalt Fiber Geogrid:
This term specifically refers to basalt fiber grids used in geotechnical and civil engineering applications. The prefix "geo-" highlights its purpose in reinforcing soil, asphalt, or concrete in construction projects like roadways, retaining walls, or embankments.

Both terms describe a grid made from basalt fibers, but Basalt Fiber Geogrid is more precise for construction and geotechnical contexts, whereas Basalt Fiber Grid can have broader applications. If you are referring to civil engineering or infrastructure reinforcement, "Basalt Fiber Geogrid" is the preferred term.
